Vendor Roundup Part 1: The Biggies

We had (mostly) AMAZING vendors! Here are some reviews:

DJ: Vourteque

He drove in from Chicago to work our wedding! His gig fee was ridiculously reasonable and his other request was travel/gas expenses. It turned out to be less expensive to have him MC/DJ the wedding than to get a boring old contemporary DJ who would not have a fusion-o-scope, a great sense of style and great read on the crowd. Between the Electro-swing and the top 40s mix, Vourteque threw us a great party. And he even came out with us after! Go here to listen to some of his work!

Band: Emperor Norton's Stationary Marching Band (ENSMB)

ENSMB rocked! Everyone loved them, I loved them. They are just fantastic. The day of the arrived with plenty of time to set up so as not to disturb the ceremony, were professional and great. Leading up to the event, I found it difficult to get a commitment and that I had to send 2 or 3 emails before getting a response. We love them, but their communication before the event left something to be desired and added stress to the planning process.

Venue: Charles River Museum of Industry and Innovation (CRMI)

The renovations at the museum really made the space so much better than it was! It was amazing before, but with the new floor, new windows and removal of the ugly stage, the space was amazing. The coordinator was fantastic. She was helpful and friendly, responsive and generally wonderful. While we found the venue rental to be a little pricey, it clearly did not stop us from renting it...though we did go for a non-holiday Monday as it was literally half the price of the weekend rates.

Rentals: Rent All of Boston/Boston Party Rental

We were VERY disappointed with this rental company. If we had not been on a time crunch we would have gone with a different company. They were rude on the phone, did not listen to our requests and charged way too much to have items delivered at a specific time ($225). They forgot the skirts for the bar and were not going to bring them. And the cords they brought us needed an amp to connect with the DJ's rig which they charged us an extra $100 to deliver. I cannot express my dissatisfaction with this company any more. Do not use them. They are unprofessional and rude.

Hotel: Hyatt House Waltham/Boston

Amazing. We got 2 suites, each 2 bedroom trios for our wedding party--a groom's suite and a bride's suite. It was perfect. Each comfortably slept 9-10 people with a full kitchen. We held the rehearsal dinner in their lounge space, used their grills to cook up burgers and dogs and they lent us the utensils. Each room was fully stocked with kitchen supplies and dish soap. The people at the front desk were friendly and helpful. They did not over charge for pets ($75 per room) and were just very accommodating. While the rooms were one the pricey side, they provided breakfast every morning--delicious and different every day!

Caterer: Rebecca's Cafe

The food was amazing. Everyone said so...though we didn't really get that much to eat! Tanya, the coordinator was a pleasure to work with and amazingly helpful. She was fantastic. She helped with quantities and gave us such an abundance of food to sample that we feed most of a graduation party with it! Well-priced, excellent service and amazing food!!

Photography: M.G. Norris Contemporary Photography

He deserves his own post, which he will get later on. But the most amazing work, demeanor and enthusiasm. He came dressed to the nines with his 2 assistants who were also dressed wonderfully. What started out as an excellent pairing with photographer and client ended up being the beginning of a beautiful friendship...HIRE HIM!
